In the Sydney CBD, a professional hospitality group is recruiting a passionate Tandoori & Curry Chef with real experience. Indian cuisine is the foundation, in particular classic tandoor cooking, curry preparation and fast, high-volume restaurant service.
It is stable, full-time work, with room to influence menus and new dishes. Sponsorship is available for the right candidate.
A tandoor section speaks through detail, so make your CV describe the dishes you have produced, the volume you have worked at and your food safety knowledge. Give your tandoor chef CV a polished English finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and run the Tandoor section.
- Cook naan, roti, kebabs, tikka and other tandoori dishes.
- Cook a broad range of authentic and contemporary Indian curries.
- Make marinades, gravies, sauces, stocks and mise en place.
- Keep consistency, portion control and presentation steady, even in high-volume service.
- Uphold food safety and kitchen hygiene standards.
- Limit wastage and help manage stock.
- Contribute to menu development and new dishes, and train and support junior kitchen staff.
Requirements & Eligibility
- A minimum of 5 years' relevant experience
- Tandoor and Curry section experience that is strong
- Deep knowledge of Indian spices, marinades and cooking techniques
- A background in a busy, high-volume restaurant
- Good knife and preparation skills
- Keeps quality and consistency up under pressure
- A sound understanding of food safety and hygiene
- Professional and reliable, with strong teamwork and communication
- Available for evenings and weekends as required
