Cookie Policy

Last updated: 8 November 2026

Here is what JobsAbroad New Zealand stores in your browser and why. Google Analytics, and Microsoft Clarity if enabled, start only after you choose Accept all. Choose Reject all and you can still read every job and guide.

1. Cookies and other browser storage, explained

A cookie is a small piece of data a website can save in your browser and read back later. sessionStorage usually clears when you close the tab, while localStorage and IndexedDB can stay much longer. Whether they keep a feature working or measure visits depends on how a site uses them.

2. What this site saves

jnz-consent (localStorage) remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics, and when, for 180 days, so we do not ask on every page. You will see the banner again once that period runs out, if you clear it, or if your browser cannot read it.

chunk_reload_at (sessionStorage) lets a page reload once, in a controlled way, after we release an update. It clears when the tab session ends and is not used to follow visitors around.

The 180 days is our own site setting; we are not saying New Zealand law requires analytics consent to lapse after 180 days.

3. Analytics cookies (optional)

If you accept, Google Analytics may set _ga and _ga_<ID>. Microsoft Clarity, where enabled, may set _clck and _clsk, and Microsoft may use CLID and MUID on its own domains. Depending on the service and its settings, the Google cookies can last up to two years, _clck, CLID and MUID up to a year, and _clsk up to a day.

These lifetimes do not stretch the 180 days for which we remember your choice. Analytics never run on the administration pages. The Privacy Policy explains what data is involved and why.

4. Staff sign-in

When authorised staff sign in, Firebase Authentication may use IndexedDB or localStorage to keep their session going, and the sign-in email may be saved on that device. Public visitors never have accounts created this way.

6. Saying yes, saying no, changing your mind

The banner gives you two buttons, Accept all and Reject all. Until you accept, no optional analytics run, and rejecting them does not lock you out of anything.

To revisit your decision, use Cookie settings in the footer. If you withdraw consent after accepting, the page reloads to switch the tools off and clears the analytics cookies it can reach on this site’s own domain. Cookies kept on other companies’ domains are managed through your browser settings.

This choice is about analytics only. It does not stand in for any separate agreement or consent needed to use or share information from your application.

7. Using your browser settings

Your browser lets you delete or block site data. If it blocks us from saving your choice, the banner may keep coming back. Private windows clear their data according to the browser’s own rules. Google also offers a Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

You never have to play a YouTube video, and if outside fonts cannot load, the site falls back on fonts already on your device.

8. Updates and questions

If we add tools or change what they are for, we will describe it here and follow the notice and consent rules that apply. For everything else about personal information, see the Privacy Policy; questions about cookies are welcome at jobs@jobsabroad.co.nz.
