Cook Japanese food in an evening-focused Melbourne kitchen. The growing team needs commercial experience, dependable attendance and a cooperative approach to preparation and service. You will follow recipes, maintain food quality and contribute positively as the kitchen develops.
The role is open to applicants already in Australia with valid work rights, with sponsorship available for the right candidate if a suitable full-time position becomes available.
An English CV should show Japanese cuisine experience and the preparation you carry out before evening service. build a Japanese kitchen service CV with examples of consistent dishes, organised stations and how you respond to feedback and training.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Japanese dishes to recipes, methods and kitchen standards and organise mise en place efficiently before evening service.
- Maintain consistent portions, plating and food quality.
- Assist colleagues during busy periods and maintain hygiene, cleanliness and correct ingredient handling.
- Help prepare stock and organise the kitchen, communicate with chefs and colleagues and respond positively to instructions, feedback and training.
- Contribute to respectful, cooperative work and remain dependable across scheduled shifts.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Minimum 2 years of relevant Japanese cuisine or professional kitchen experience and practical commercial cooking skills.
- Real understanding of Japanese preparation and kitchen operations, comfortable with fast service and calm and organised under pressure.
- Dependable attendance and personal accountability, professional attitude and sound workplace discipline.
- Respectful communication and strong teamwork, positive about development and willing to train and adapt to requirements.
- Committed to a stable long-term hospitality career; Valid Australian work rights required.
