General Manager

Visa sponsorship

Hospitality · Wellington, New Zealand · Full-Time · $25/hr · Visa: Employer sponsored

A lodging and lifestyle business opening in Wellington needs a general manager in charge from day one. You would own the operation end to end, define how guests are served and turn a group of department heads into a single team.

The employer is looking for someone who has run hotels or comparable properties and can point to real results rather than titles. Visa sponsorship is available for the right candidate, and applicants from overseas who have verified hospitality experience are encouraged to apply.

Show the hotels you have opened, the departments you have headed and the guest results you have delivered. Use an online CV builder to present hotel management experience clearly in English.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be accountable for the whole property and what it earns
  • Open and establish a new hospitality business, with reliable systems, processes and service standards in place from day one
  • Guide and back department heads so they hit operational targets, and foster a culture of accountability, cooperation and good service
  • Make sure every guest stay is of consistently high quality, arrival to departure
  • Supervise the lodging side, guest services, food and beverage, housekeeping and maintenance
  • Measure revenue, staffing efficiency and running costs against targets, and convert data and operational insight into stronger performance and happier guests
  • Resolve issues early with practical fixes, and keep every department in touch so day-to-day operations stay smooth
  • Encourage staff engagement, training and career growth
  • Reflect the property's values in confident leadership and a warm manner with guests, and keep improving steadily without losing consistency
