An Auckland property is about to open its doors: a big new hostel and hybrid hotel-hostel site from a group that also runs food and beverage venues around Australia and New Zealand. It needs a General Manager at the top, with Host, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance leaders as direct reports, and ownership of guest experience, culture, financial performance and compliance.
The post is pre-opening, so you would be building the operation and the leadership group from the ground up, with a January 2027 start planned ahead of a March opening. Key Responsibilities
- Run the whole property, with the heads of Host, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance as your direct reports

- Pre-opening: team up with colleagues to build the operation and pull the leadership group together, setting the culture as a new property moves from plans to opening

Requirements & Eligibility
- Background in running a busy hotel or hostel
- Grasp of lodging, yield management and the drivers of commercial performance
- Comfortable handling budgets, labour, revenue and cost control
- Some food and beverage exposure, ideally across bars, restaurants or busy social venues
- Knowing the Auckland hospitality and lodging scene is helpful but not essential, and a cover letter is required to be considered for interview
