Key Responsibilities
- Set the tone through daily kitchen service
- Turn out modern dishes at a consistently high level
- Apply a wide mix of professional cooking techniques
- Hit the mark on flavour, presentation and portion size, dish after dish
- Work as one with the team through service, helping with prep, production and planning
- Maintain tempo when it gets busy, and keep a close watch on the quality of the food and its preparation
- Comply with food safety, hygiene and workplace safety procedures and leave the kitchen clean and organised
- Back up the senior chefs in running the kitchen, and help shape a positive, cooperative team with high aims
Requirements & Eligibility
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent recognised qualification
- A minimum of 1–3 years in a commercial kitchen
- Experience as a Sous Chef, Senior Chef or in a comparable position
- Strong grounding in cooking theory plus hands-on kitchen skill
- Experience producing quality modern cuisine
- Efficient and consistent when under pressure
- Strong communicator and team worker, well organised with good time-management
- Presents professionally, works dependably and knows food safety, hygiene and OH&S requirements well
- Able to cover varied shifts on a 7-day roster, evenings included, and provide professional employment referees with up-to-date contact details
