Welder and Fabricator

Visa sponsorship

Trade · Sydney, NSW, Australia · Full-Time · Discussed at interview · Visa: Employer sponsored

A Sydney workshop that makes engineered components is hiring First-Class Welder/Fabricators. The work is varied, and each piece has to come out accurate and dependable, whether you are cutting, fitting up or welding it together.

What counts is proven trade experience and the right qualifications, not just one good bead on a test day. Sponsorship may be available to suitably qualified and experienced candidates who satisfy the applicable visa and employer requirements.

Your CV should list the processes and positions you weld in, the shops you have worked in and your trade qualification. Build AI CV is a handy way to pull that history together, starting from the jobs you are proudest of.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take an engineering brief and turn it into finished welded assemblies
  • Follow drawings, plans and fab specs
  • Weld in MIG, TIG and Stick in different positions and for different uses
  • Mark out, measure and cut stock, prepare it, and assemble it accurately
  • Tack and align parts before the final pass, then run neat, strong welds
  • Check each finished piece against its dimensions, tolerances and quality requirements
  • Sort out fit-up, fabrication and welding problems when they crop up
  • Run the shop's machinery, tools and welding equipment safely
  • Organise your own tasks with little direction, and talk to other trades and shop staff about what each job needs
  • Stick to the workshop's safety and quality procedures, leave your bay tidy, and work overtime, including Saturdays, when the workload calls for it
