Telecommunications Field Engineer

Visa sponsorship

Engineering · Brisbane, QLD, Australia · Full-Time · Discussed at interview · Visa: Employer sponsored

Upgrading Australia's networks takes engineers who are happy up a tower, can connect equipment and prove the site is working. A Brisbane contractor that builds telecommunications infrastructure is hiring a Telecommunications Field Engineer for integration and commissioning work on major carrier projects.

You would be part of big deployments with experienced colleagues from the industry. Overseas applicants who are suitably qualified and meet Australian migration requirements can be offered employer sponsorship.

Hirers want to see current tickets and a record of live sites. Name your rigging, working at heights and first aid certification, plus the networks you have brought online, on your CV. A telecom field engineer CV is easier to tidy with an online builder.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out RF and transmission integration, testing and commissioning, finishing with handover to the carrier
  • Fit and energise antennas, radios, microwave links, feeders, outdoor cabinets and similar network equipment, and assist with tower upgrades, structural changes and site expansions
  • Prepare commissioning reports, test records and carrier sign-off paperwork to industry standard
  • Diagnose and clear faults that appear during installation, commissioning or integration
  • Observe safety procedures, permits, risk controls and quality assurance requirements, travel wherever projects demand from city sites to remote Australia, and work with engineering, project and field colleagues

Requirements & Eligibility

  • You have built a hands-on career as a Telecommunications Field Engineer, with strength in RF and transmission integration
  • Your past roles include commissioning telecommunications equipment and handling carrier acceptance documentation
  • You hold a current Intermediate or Advanced Rigging qualification, and your Working at Heights, Elevated Work Platform (EWP) and First Aid certifications are current too
  • You have worked on telecommunications towers, structural steel installations or infrastructure upgrades
  • You are willing to travel widely across Australia, including regional and remote sites
  • You currently hold a driver's licence; extra heavy vehicle licences or relevant industry tickets are advantageous
  • You understand safety, quality and Australian telecommunications industry standards
  • Troubleshooting, communication and teamwork are strengths
