Turn longer-range mine strategy into workable short-term plans at a Queensland underground mine, listed in Brisbane. The senior mining engineer develops schedules and designs for safe delivery by crews, covering development, production, drilling, blasting and underground infrastructure. Technical guidance and coaching of younger engineers are part of the role.

Key Responsibilities
- Own short-term underground planning from preparation to operational handover, translating mine strategy into practical daily plans.
- Design development headings, production areas and infrastructure and improve sequencing for operational results.
- Prepare and refine drill and blast designs and assess stopes against short-term production needs.
- Identify constraints and planning risks early and recommend improvements.
- Guide engineering staff technically and mentor engineers, graduates and cadets.
- Coordinate development, stoping, services, ventilation and backfill and confirm readiness and sound execution of planned work.
- Produce accurate practical designs in mine software and continuously improve planning and design standards.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related field and Minimum 6–8 years in mining engineering roles.
- Solid underground hard rock experience with a proven short-term planning record.
- Practical operational mine design and demonstrated drill and blast design, with good understanding of underground methods and production.
- Previous technical leadership or mentoring of junior engineers and stope design and sequencing knowledge.
- Proficiency in Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine, Deswik or similar software and genuine, verifiable underground experience.
- Effective across operational and technical teams, with strong analysis, problem-solving and communication.
