Two floor layer openings cover residential, commercial, retail and new-build projects in Mackay. Carpet and vinyl installation are central to the growing team's work, from measuring and subfloor preparation through to fitting and rectification. The employer needs a clear, verifiable record of relevant practical experience.
Suitably skilled overseas applicants with verifiable relevant work may be eligible for visa sponsorship.
An English CV should show the flooring systems you install and how you prepare subfloors. prepare a Mackay carpet and vinyl floor layer CV with examples of broadloom seaming, stretching and precise finishing. Include your licence, White Card and any advanced floor preparation experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and measure work areas and interpret plans to determine flooring needs, remove old coverings and prepare subfloors correctly.
- Install broadloom with underlay and gripper, including stretching and seams, carpet tiles on residential and commercial jobs and luxury vinyl plank.
- Cut and fit accurately and complete trims, thresholds and edges.
- Carry out repairs and rectification and maintain high workmanship.
- Keep vehicle, tools and work areas safe and organised to Australian safety and installation requirements and coordinate well with customers, builders and trades.
Requirements & Eligibility
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Floor Layer and practical broadloom carpet and/or vinyl plank installation.
- Sound subfloor preparation understanding and accurate measurement and plan interpretation, with a professional installation record.
- Current driver's licence and current construction White Card before commencement.
- Good communication and customer confidence, reliability and physical capacity for flooring.
- Able to work independently and within an installation team.
- Commercial sheet vinyl including welding, coving and wall vinyl is highly regarded; advanced preparation, floating floor and engineered timber installation are highly regarded.
