Software Engineer

Visa sponsorship

IT & Technology · Melbourne, VIC, Australia · Full-Time · $85,000 - $90,000/yr · Visa: Employer sponsored

Bring software from a user need through to a maintained application in this Melbourne engineering position. The technical brief combines application development with AI and machine learning, rather than stopping at writing code. Testing, reliable integrations and documentation form part of the same development cycle.

Visa sponsorship may be available for a suitably qualified and experienced applicant. The application deadline is 12 November 2026.

Projects give an English CV substance: explain your Python work, how you tested it and what you contributed to machine learning integrations. You can organise your software engineering project evidence in a CV so the technical experience is easy to follow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Turn business needs into software designs and technical specifications.
  • Create applications in Python, Node.js, C++ and C#/.NET, then maintain the software.
  • Integrate AI features through large language models and tools including LangChain, LangGraph and Flowise.
  • Train and evaluate machine learning solutions for classification, regression, predictive analysis and anomaly detection.
  • Use natural language processing, sentiment analysis and image processing where relevant to an application.
  • Preprocess data, select features, train models and optimise their performance.
  • Connect software systems by developing APIs and database integrations.
  • Find and correct defects through unit and integration tests, and review code for quality, security, reliability and performance.
  • Write technical specifications, system documentation and testing records, keeping these materials current.

Requirements & Eligibility

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3+ years working across software design, development, testing and maintenance.
  • Strong Python programming skills, together with experience using Node.js or C#/.NET.
  • Hands-on AI or machine learning framework experience, for example scikit-learn, TensorFlow or Keras.
  • A background developing APIs and using SQL databases.
  • Knowledge of software architecture, debugging, version control and testing practices, with familiarity in Agile or Scrum development methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to contribute effectively to a team and work independently.
  • Desirable: a background with LangChain, LangGraph, Flowise or other LLM integration tools.
