Care for women and families through pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period in a private Hobart maternity setting. The Registered Midwife works with obstetric, nursing, neonatal and allied health colleagues, combining clinical care with education and support.
The role is open to eligible applicants already in Australia with work rights; applicants who need visa sponsorship will be considered.
An English CV should connect your AHPRA registration and Midwifery qualification with the maternity settings you know. prepare a woman-centred midwifery practice CV with examples of assessment, family education and newborn care, and identify any student or graduate mentoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, respectful, evidence-based antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal midwifery care.
- Support women during labour and birth in accordance with their wishes and care plans, monitoring mothers and newborns and escalating clinical concerns appropriately.
- Educate and reassure women and families and assist with newborn care, breastfeeding and early parenting.
- Maintain accurate clinical notes and patient records and collaborate with obstetric, nursing, neonatal and allied health professionals.
- Participate in clinical education, professional development and quality improvement, mentoring students and graduate midwives when requested.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Registered Midwife status, current AHPRA registration and a recognised Midwifery qualification.
- Demonstrable maternity care experience and firm commitment to woman-centred, evidence-based practice.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Current professional knowledge and clinical competencies; birth suite, antenatal, postnatal or special care nursery experience is highly regarded.
- Open to permanent full-time, part-time or casual hours and able to meet Australian professional registration and employment requirements.
