Heavy commercial vehicles are the focus of this permanent full-time post for an experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic, set in regional NSW. A road freight business runs the workshop. You would be based at Dubbo, or at a second regional workshop that rotates back to Dubbo. Prime movers, trailers and bulk freight equipment make up the fleet, so the days are filled with complex diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance, all done to keep vehicles on the road and to satisfy NHVR, chain of responsibility and WHS rules.
Subclass 482 visa sponsorship is available for suitably qualified candidates; anyone who already holds a valid visa in Australia is preferred. A licence, a medical and a drug and alcohol test form part of the employment criteria.

Key Responsibilities
- Service engines, transmissions and brakes on schedule, with logbook entries and OEM guidelines followed
- Use advanced diagnostic tools to hunt down faults in electrical, mechanical and emissions systems, and put them right
- Rebuild major components, and fabricate where the job calls for it
- Stay fully NHVR compliant, keeping detailed records that stand up to audits
- Follow workshop safety rules and manage work orders in fleet management software; respond to roadside call-outs and show drivers how to do vehicle checks and report defects
Requirements & Eligibility
- At least 2 years as a heavy diesel mechanic, ideally in road transport, along with a Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology qualification
- Experience of NHVR standards and bulk freight equipment is desirable
- Skilled with diagnostic software and knowledgeable about petrol and diesel engines
- A licence that is current, and the ability to pass a medical and a drug and alcohol test
